IF ...surrender

Perhaps the last major group of Native American warriors who refused to acknowledge the U.S. claims in the American West was Geronimo's band of Apache warriors, but the storm was too severe and he surrendered in September of 1886 in 'Arizona'. Much of the rest of his life was spent as a U.S. prisoner, where he surrendered to U.S. celebrity, and U.S. religion.

Coffee Mugs

Tea is good, but I prefer coffee. I will drink tea, and I will add cream and sugar if the mood strikes me, and I will drink it in a mug if I must. ...for coffee attitudes are acceptable when applied to tea. ~~But I'll be damned if I'll ever use a coffee cozy!

IF ...dusty

Melancholy and desolate over the deaths of several close friends, Queen Elizabeth 1 fell sick in the final months of her life and settled into a severe depression. The virgin queen gathered no more moss, and let the ashes come to ashes, and the dust befall to dust.

Coffee Mugs

It's always interesting to try to spot the child within the adult. The child within nearly always finds it's way out in a look, expression, mannerism, body posture, or speech. It's sometimes just a split second, but if you can capture it and use it as an anchor, you might communicate a more accurate truth about your subject. It's often a challenge -but rewarding to find the child within; ~~if you find the child without, then it's best to help them find what they lost and, that in itself, is its own reward.

IF ...chicken

When trouble comes a~knockin' we all count on the strong arm of the law to nip it! Nip it! Nip it in the bud! Don Knotts was unsurpassable as the law's favorite son: Barney Fife ~fearless of nothing. ...as Dylan once said, "the sun ain't yellow, it's chicken"!

Coffee Mugs

Smug as a bug in a mug.
There's nothing quite like that mild euphoria...
and a gentle pesticide as well!

IF ...déjà vu

In 1969, John and Yoko became one by marrying in Gibraltar near Spain, but by that point, it was getting difficult to VISUALLY distinguish one from the other as well... even Paul was known to get confused, it kept him on his toes ~oh yeah.

Coffee Mugs

You should be careful about smiling at folks. There's a whole range of possible results... they may ignore you, they may become very uncomfortable, they may frown at you, they may start to cry, they may punch you, they may have to go to the bathroom all of a sudden...
~hopefully they'll just smile back.

IF ...resolutions

The mother of all resolutions may have to be the national resolution of emancipation put into effect on New Year's day 1863, proclaimed by Abraham Lincoln in September of the previous year. Although limited to the slave states not under Union control at the time, it soon was endemic throughout... hard to top that one, come 1864.
