Coffee Mugs

Virginia Woolf said: "Language is wine upon the lips" which leaves us to wonder what, exactly, would coffee be ~upon the lips?

IF ...old-fashioned

While ado-ing much about nothing, Conrade said to Borachio "...I see that the fashion wears out more apparel than the man...". It's a good thing too ~~else we may still sport ruffs and cod pieces like Shakespeare to this very day; things folks really got their noses into once upon a time have died happily ever after.

Coffee Mugs

Sometimes you can only imply at the inner secrets in any given person. And that's all that's really necessary. Taking the trouble to really get to know someone in order to make a more accurate portrait is a mistake; too many candies to choose from. Better to see strangers as strangers ~~that are leaking slightly.

IF ...acrobat

The only comedian made of pure rubber, Sir Charlie Chaplin, took advantage of this God-given trait in order to accomplish what would be acrobatically impossible otherwise ...and captured it on film no less!

Coffee Mugs

Jonathan Swift once said: "Coffee makes us severe, and grave, and philosophical." ...being a good Irishman his disdain was probably due to missing his usual fix of the more popular 'Irish coffee' which likely made him "shavere, grrraive and shilafosical"... it was during this latter coffee, one would assume, that he began imagining little people tying him up to the floor, and under the table... nothing like that to be found at Peet's. no sir.

IF ...proverb

己所不欲,勿施於人。
"What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others." Nearly every religion claims the Golden Rule for themselves, but having to put a face on the most famous proverb, I'd have to go with Mr. Confucius. I hope he never draws me though...

Coffee Mugs

One of the joys of caricature is that there are no rules as to what to enlarge, and (just as importantly) what to diminish. Many combinations can communicate a likeness, so the prioritizing of variance then goes to what personality trait is needing emphasizing at the time. Different moods demand different crescendos.
Here's some allegro ma non troppo un poco maestosos for you...

IF ...dessert

Eat your vegetables first! If ever there was an inspiration necessary for eating healthily in the '50s, then a Marilyn cheesecake would've been considered the epitome of dessert stimuli... Attitudes change, (or do they?) but for all the young men in 22nd row, I give you motivation revisited.

Coffee Mugs

If the coffee you're drinking right now tastes like mud, it may be due to the fact that it was ground earlier today.
