FACIAL TENSION

Lookie here!
~~Pictures from the opening on July 23rd.
Quite the event! Folks from the north, south, east and west coagulated at the Aussi Gallery to do some Ewing vEwing.  I was there too but I didn't get to talk to myself, somebody else always was monopolizing me.

IF ...Protest/Equality

Blacklisted and later awarded the Kennedy Center Honor from the president all in one lifespan, Pete Seeger lived a life of musical protest for the environment, for disarmament and for civil rights ~among other issues.  Still recording and protesting at the age of 94 it is difficult to find his equal.

IF ...farewell

A farewell address that read somewhat like a prophecy, Dwight David Eisenhower's omenizing about the military-industrial complex was more a 'good luck' than a 'good bye'.

IF ...train

Jesse, and his brother Frank, James may be the most famous train robbers of the 19th century.  Shunning alcohol, the fastidious Jameses only rarely robbed the passengers... just the trains.
Where they put all those trains is beyond me.

IF ...wild

The 'quiet' Beatle notwithstanding, George Harrison was quite able to make the girl fans in the audience go wild by breaking out into a two-second jig, shaking his hair or tossing a vague wave outwards ~~when the mood struck him.
(...and he often did it wild his guitar gently wept).

IF ...swim

He'd like to be, under the sea, in an octopus' garden (with you)...Ringo Starr only wrote about 2 and a half songs as a Beatle.  ~~By far the best of the lot was 1969's Octopus's Garden where he could shout and swim about.

IF ...eye glasses

Not the most familiar Beatle look for John Lennon.  In 1966, fresh from putting quit to touring and newly returned from filming an English Army war film, John arrived back in London with shortened hair and a new style of spectacles ~which came to be his classic mien.  Imagine that!

IF ...yesterday

At a mere 22 years of age, Paul McCartney dreamed up the standard that became the most recorded Beatle song ever  ...but had he kept it's original title: 'Scrambled Eggs' it may not have had the appeal it does.
It wouldn't be half the song it was meant to be.

IF ...talent

Possibly the world's most talented left-handed vegetarian, Leonardo da Vinci had a flair for an enormous set of disciplines: painter, musician, engineer, writer, botanist, architect, inventor, mathematician and sculptor to name a few.

IF ...whisper

Long before her public mortification on the scaffold in front of the stocks, one can assume the whispers concerning Hester Prynne were rife and malicious.  Malevolent mutterings notwithstanding, Hester held her own and her scarlet letter became her badge of honor.
