Unlike bones, cartilage continues to grow until you die.
Your nose and ears continue to enlarge and your earlobes, affected by gravity, get longer and longer.
As we age, the facial fat and muscles shrink and sink in, creating a contrast where you have a smaller head with larger ears and noses.

we all become caricatures eventually...

The only way to get good at drawing the figure, whether caricature or not, is to do it.
LOTS of it. ALL the time.

The best graphite in the 1800s came from China.  This was a selling point for American pencil manufacturers, so the decision was made to paint their pencils the color associated with Chinese royalty: yellow, and use it 'advertise' their high-end graphite.  It is ubiquitous today.
--but what was once seen as fit for a monarch has now become commonplace.

Ha-ha.

Chickens see more colors than humans.
They have extra 'ultra-violet' cones in their eyes.
They can see more things under the sun than even the president,
but as the commander-in-chief once said:
"The sun's not yellow, it's chicken!"

...just more useless and pointless knowledge for you.

In Prussia, 1777, Frederick the Great failed to convince the general public that it should exchange their morning java for a morning beer (done so to address concerns of waning beer sales taxes).  So in 1781 he made all coffee a royal monopoly and all 'un-regal' coffee became illegal. To enforce the ban he employed disabled soldiers to track down and snuffle out illegally roasted coffees in the villages.

Romans were efficient.  Their statues were created with removable heads.
So when an emperor died all they had to create was a new head and switch it out.
doesn't work well in caricature.

...damn Romans!

Originally, the idea was to dress up as specters on Hallowe'en in order to blend-in.  It was understood that spirits returned to the earth on this day and in order to not be uncomfortably accosted by them, folks would dress up as ghosts in order to commingle surreptitiously ...if they needed to be out of doors.

and yes, even then, some folks didn't need as much dressing up as others...

Coffee was criminal !!  pt 6
In Sweden, circa 1746, King Gustav III banned coffee completely under the impression that coffee was detrimental to public health.  To prove his theory he experimented on imprisoned twins forcing one to drink 3 pots of coffee a day, and the other 3 pots of tea a day, expecting the effects on the coffee prisoner to validate all.  However, Gustav III was assassinated before the experiment was over and was never informed of the tea prisoner living to his 80s and the coffee prisoner living even longer!  The Swedes had been deprived of coffee for no reason.

The original bicycle, the Dandy Horse, was made almost entirely of wood.
It was uncomfortable and dangerous and eventually declared illegal by the police.
If you can find one you could try it and see what you think.

...I wooden, though.

Guillaume Apollinaire and even Picasso were seriously suspected of the crime. (it wasn't them)

Coffee was criminal !!  pt 5
King Charles II of England shut down all coffee houses completely and banned the selling of coffee beans altogether in 1675 due to tracing seditious poetry to these sober institutions.  The public response was quite severe and, within a week-and-a-half, he reversed his decision. Banning the beverage didn't work.
