  1. as usual I find a great collection here. The first one is wonderful mixure of bird and human being fused together as a whole. It is always fascinating to find characters that seems to me be somehow familiar, as nr 2 and 3 .
Probably archetypes...any idea how it is possible?
The last one is probably an artist or scientist occupied by his sudden idea and trying to put it as best as possible on the paper ....
    I enjoy again, Richard.

    1. Hello Ludek,
The archetypes nr 2 and 3... I've always been fascinated by how much variety there is in the human face and the arrangement of the same basic features --while and at the same time, there are constant echoes and 'types'.

      I offer two thoughts, perhaps.
•• I choose coffee shops with the most variety in clientele and patrons; some coffee shops are in areas that are too homogenous and I find it hard to be inspired after a few visits. So I end up with a range of types.
•• And. It's true, the US is very much a melting pot of people, especially on the coasts, and of course a large percentage have European ancestry so those echoes carry through, I suspect.

What I hope to achieve is something beyond the surface, where instead of it LOOKING like someone, it actually also FEELS (has the essence of) someone. I wonder if the familiarity you note is visual or more internal/personality based...

Thank you for always checking the blog and commenting. I appreciate the time and thoughts.

  2. Actually, I think your analysis are correct. The mishmash of whole bunch of (european) types results in certain archetypes which I do recognize. We humans are one big family...
R.E: "I wonder if the familiarity you note is visual or more internal/personality based..."
I think it is both; sometimes I have one certain person in my mind , sometimes there is a resemblance with more general type. Always fascinating and interesting. I suppose an antroplogist would be in the heaven when overviewing your drawings...
I can imagine that not every coffee shop is the right one for your kind of drawing. But I see you choose always the best ones!
    Thanks for your thoughts !
