ROOSTER ...2
Pencil, ink and preliminary color. Value structure to be manipulated and will try to maintain surface interest here on this bird. On a more philosophical note, I was hoping to discover why if roosters will crow at night, and crows will roost at night, why these two birds were awarded the name they have, and not the other way around.
... I find I am as frustrated as when I began this project.

HARLEQUIN DUCK
A small sea duck, highly decorated, and very brave in the face of adversity. Also goes by the name 'Lords and Ladies' which is another term for a European flowering plant called the Cuckoopint, which appears to refer to a small Cuckoo, a long-tailed bird with pale underparts known for its two-note call... --or perhaps it refers to a crazy person, which is what I think I shall be by the time I figure out what's going on with this duck.

LOVEBIRD
A Lovebird is a type of small parrot known to be monogamous and is often found sitting for an interminable time next to its mate; hence the name. And yet one would think that, with all this cuddlefussing, the more proper spelling 'pairrot' would have been long ago adopted...
no one ever thinks of these things in a timely fashion.

FALCON
A bird-eating raptor. The Peregrine speeds to about 200-plus mph when diving towards its prey; no animal is faster. In terms of survival this bird must early on decide if it will be a Falcon...
