IF ...proverb

己所不欲,勿施於人。
"What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others." Nearly every religion claims the Golden Rule for themselves, but having to put a face on the most famous proverb, I'd have to go with Mr. Confucius. I hope he never draws me though...

Could it be though that Confucious looks a bit like you? :-)

  3. hmmm...
I guess you COULD say that here, "I am drawing others as I would have myself be drawn". HA! ...I don't think I am anywhere near as wise though, unfortunately.

  5. The repetition and progression of your signature is really interesting and creates a very appropriate pattern in this piece. I think NUR is onto something here! I like how you've rendered his mustache and beard - the flat, squared-off wisps are infinitely intriguing. Bravo!

  7. Nice one Richard. I was Confucius for halloween one year, but everyone thought I was the cook from Bonanza! Great portrait!

  8. i really love this one. especially the texture for the background, really makes it feel as if this was painted on traditional chinese parchment paper.
