It's hard for the instantly~recognizable to sneak one by anybody, and Peter Lorre was well aware of his easily mimicable character... he opined: "All that anyone needs to imitate me is two soft-boiled eggs and a bedroom voice." As well he made his unmistakable identity the benchmark against which all the untrustworthy must measure themselves... a trail from Hans Beckert to our precious Sméagol.

ReplyDeleteBravo! I like the close value range on your final - how Lorre emerges from the thick atmosphere. And his soft boiled egg eyes. On your high contrast pic, the curly smoke really plays with the viewer.
