IF ...intention

William Henry Harrison had intentions of serving out his full term as the 9th president of the United States, and he intended to show his virility at the get~go by delivering the longest inaugural speech (near 2 hours) without coat or hat on a cold and soggy day --(followed by a ride a slushy inaugural parade).
Within a few weeks he was fatally ill with pneumonia and pleurisy, and died having served only 32 days as commander in chief. ~~Shortest tenure as president and the first to die in office.
Those sorry presidential accomplishments were about all he had time to achieve.

  2. Ooh, the hair and eyebrows look really cool. Love the purple sky and stars. Makes you wonder what might be different now, had he lived. A strange tale! Great job as always!

  3. I love how you made his face so craggy and gave him really strong lips and prominent eyebrows. He definitely looks like he believes in his own virility. Love that I also learned something new.

  4. A great reminder why we shouldn't get too full of ourselves. Can you imagine sitting through a 2 hour speech? Ugh! I love the colors.

  5. Great subject and portrait. He does seem a bit over-confident. The colors are lovely. The warm skin tones emerge nicely from the cool background. The rendering of the hair and eye brows is nice play on texture and adds a welcome contrast to the darker/subdued values.

It is really a lovely portrait.

  6. He seems quite cheery and full of life – with a twinkle in his eye and those expressive eyebrows. I like your color combination and really admire your drawing prowess. Brrr! And yet I'm cold just looking at it! Perhaps a bit of frostbite has caught his ears already?
