Coffee Mugs

Some folk arrive real early at the coffee shop because they're gonna meet their friends (an hour or so later)... what they want is to claim a specific table or location in the shop and then as their friends stroll in piecemeal all is fine. Except that the person who did the claiming has long since finished their coffee, had to sip all by their lonesome, is getting bed sores from sitting so long ~~and is totally out of sync with the rest of their group ~~who's had more sleep, are surrounded by friends immediately, and are on the upswing from their coffee...
I always feel bad for the table-claimers. They often dress funny too.

Thank you, and enjoy.

  1. There's such a range of feelings from each of these caricatures … and exaggerations of various body parts. When I look at your work, I start imagining their voices and what they're saying or thinking. Not very many artists are capable of evoking such a response in their audience. Very enjoyable, as usual!

  2. I can easily relate this characters with people we often see or pass by... love the meticulous details you brilliantly put in each one of this draws, ... the outstanding ears, the tiny hands seeking for something ahead, the fries hair tresses, the little feet and shoes, ... You make us want to look with more and more attention to the guy next door trying to find out all this little characteristics that are so precious.

    1. Well, if I can inspire people to pay more attention to our neighbors and what's going on with them, then I'm very satisfied. Too much today is about streamlining and sound bytes...
Thank you for your nice comments.

  4. Another great set of drawings. The second lady down looks likes someone I know. I love how she looks so animated and the boy with the big ears is precious. bu my favorite drawing is the third form the top. The shapes are wonderful.

  5. The body gesture in number one is terrific. The top three seem like the people are nuts, probably from waiting so long their patina has wore off. I love the lightness of the heavy guy (#3) who may be able to fly.
