Easily the most fascinating character in the Harry Potter series, Professor Severus Snape taught Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts and along the way, character development and pacing. Alan Rickman's reading of Snape sits along with the classics.
"I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death ~~ if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach."
I love your Snape, but he doesn't seem to like me. The use of perspective makes him seem very intimidating. You must have really enjoyed painting the black area/shape. It is very Manet-like. As usual, your drawing is beautiful. I love the the structure of the face and the construction of the the collar and jacket.
I think the shirt/collar/tie/jacket area really WAS the funnest part, and quite satisfying. Thanks for the compliments Alice. If you give Severus a chance, you may find that he Always liked you. .
Wonderful! I love so much how you've created the effect of his leaning backwards or flinching away just a bit. I could not tell you how you did that! (Angles and posture I suppose?)Great face! (And Yoda would have been another great choice.)
Thanks Cindy, 'angles and posture' is about right...and of course it all comes down to 3-point perspective.
I drew Yoda once back in April 2011. http://carickature.blogspot.com/2011/04/if-duet.html had I not done him before I think he would have been the choice for this week. .
AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great tribute to Snape, and I also enjoyed the quick pen studies/sketches below very much. Nice!

You have captured him exquisitely. It's so interesting to me that when I see your characters (the ones I "know"), I can hear them, too. Amazing.
