IF ...soaked

A self proclaimed "sex-zombie" Veronica Lake personified the look and fashion of early 1940's glamour. As the 40s wore on her dependence on gin and vodka increased, her health decreased, and alcohol soaked up her talent and her life.

  1. More fantastic hair. What is a "sex zombie?" I'm trying to picture one and see that you got the expression just right!

  2. I'm not really sure what a "sex zombie" is... the actual quote is: "I wasn't a sex symbol, I was a sex zombie." Perhaps it's WAY out of context, and needs its familiar surroundings for clarity, or maybe she was just a soulless corpse when paraded by Paramount...
Best hair I'VE ever seen on a zombie, though.

  3. What a striking image! Her flowing locks really swim in the alcohol. I like how you've amplified the effect through the soft color wash and change in line quality. I also like how you've handled the surface of liquid – and how her hair meets the watery environment. Beauty has met the beast. Nice work!

  5. Sad subject but nice work. i like the way her lips blur in the alcohol. The plane of the water is nicely defined. overall I think this is a very good illustration...toothache and all.

  6. Nice concept and actualization. Looks to be thinner passages of color than some of the past work. Very effective for the above the gin and below the gin reality shift; variation of line from thick to thinner works well too.
