The picture of our perennial evergreen friend, Dorian Gray, was worth a 1000 dirty deeds. ~~He had it made living his life with impunity, and none the worse for wear and tear; but in the end he was as deciduous as a fallen angel.
Thanks Rod. I'm banking on the fact that Dorian is fictional, and I'm real... so if he indeed is able to jump dimensions I'll just have at him with my Titanium White and my Staedtler plastic eraser.
great, I love how you have used the green colors here. It looks like it's all soaked up in absinthe, perfect to show the youth and degradation of the character.
Richard, your pencils are pure brilliance. Your process pics take on an animated life of their own – the shifting eyes on the last pencil are a really nice touch. (I know this was a result of design decisions, but the accidental result is very cool).
You've achieved a good balance in the final work, blending transparent with solid forms. And creepy with aristocratic. Just wonderful!
The drawing is really brilliant. I love the diagonals running through the head of Mr Gray and that little lock of dapper hair. The cuter one is just a joy to look it because you can see the fun that you had in the invention. those teeth are a blast. There is a compelling interplay between the two characters as well.
Very cool, great choice of subject for the word. The contrast between handsome and ugly terror works brilliantly. The balance of the two by using transparency on the final is haunting.
Good take on perennial..hopefully painting Dorian won't hold the same dangers for you as it did for Basil!
