IF ...grounded

The only PhD president, Woodrow Wilson, was grounded in 1919 (towards the end of his 2nd term) when a stroke paralyzed his left side and left him blind in one eye. For the remainder of his incumbency his wife Edith ran the show acting as delegator and judge of which issues were brought to his attention, and which were not.

  4. Richard, this illustration is, quite simply, brilliant. The transparent and opaque play nicely together – as well as your line variety – over a terrain of interesting shapes and planes. I just keep going 'round and 'round. I really love that ear!

  7. Well, thank you.
Rod, he wasn't a saint per se, rather he was known to have had a self-sense that he was ordained by God to be in his position at this particular time (WW1); it informed many of his initiatives, most notably the creation of the League of Nations.

  8. Learning new things all the time! I didn't know that about Wilson. Very interesting portrait. Sorry I've gotten so far behind, what with holidays and all, but it's fun to look through your recent posts.
