If Bing Crosby could do anything, Bing Crosby could carry a tune. Just in case, Bing Crosby also carried a pipe. What Bing Crosby carried in his pipe is another matter altogether...
Terrific piece on many different levels, drawing, caricature, painting, color, texture. All the parts are working together in a Gestalt of a greater whole. And I can feel the hollow of Bing's cheeks in my own. I didn't think I cared what was in his pipe, but now I'm curious.
I like the tie the best and the texture of the jacket is really nice. The cut out out pipe with the shadow must have been hard to pull off, but it the way in which all of the elements work together that is most impressive. Bing is looking affected by whatever he put in the pipe and seems to have forgotten about the one that he is holding.
Harry Lillis Crosby was his birth name, but as a young child he was called Bingo. ~Bingo from Bingville ...(a long story); over time the O wore off and the Bing moniker was coined. ~~far more memorable than Harry, and miles less embarrassing than Lillis, methinks. .
Wow! What a great idea to make a cut out of the pipe this way, with the shadow it really works well. I like the colours you used and how they fade out in the left corner
I don't really care what he carried on his pipe, he looks amazing.

ReplyDeleteBing, evidently, was known to have smoked marijuana with some regularity back when it was legal to do so... (and possibly later when it wasn't).

ReplyDeleteHa! It never occurred to me he had anything but smoking tobacco in there. Which he may have. He looks great! I love that suit and bowtie.
