Coffee Mugs

During the bicycle craze of the 1890s the New York Times opined:
"If the increase continues, the time is not very distant when not to own and ride a bicycle will be a confession that one is not able-bodied, is exceptionally awkward, or is hopelessly belated".  -July 13, 1895
Here, one might suspect, are some primed for the confessional...

  1. Hi--

I look at these regularly, but I don't hardly ever comment, because I don't know what to say. I really really like your caricatures. They're so solid, and interesting, and I really like how you use line.

So....I'll probably continue looking at them (and now saying anyting), but I wanted you to know that someone is appreciating these....

    1. Such a nice comment...
      ~thank you.
I hope there's a number of the silent majority in tow; I've not had the time to participate as often in the Illustration Friday weekly, and that's seriously dropped the number of comments I get per post anymore. It's dwindled down to a few regulars: Mardi Speth, Rod MacGregor, artisjokken, and a few others. Always a nice spark when they speak up.

The mugs will stay a regular event for the foreseeable future.
      I'm glad you like them.
They are a joy to do.
I miss doing the other images...

  4. These are so fun to flip through! I especially love the somewhat unexpectedness of the first one, and sour expression on the 3rd....
