IF ...fluid

One of the most fluid baritone voices to ever sing a ballad belonged to Nat King Cole. A voice he firmly believed was enhanced by a three pack a day smoking habit... ~he was known to inhale several menthol cigarettes in a row before recording sessions to polish his sound.
Heartbreakingly, but not surprisingly, Nat died of lung cancer at the age of 45.

  1. Listening to Nature Boy, when viewing your masterpiece. Love the fluid forms of his hands....

    I enjoy it.

  2. Although your thoughts concerning Nat's voice are spot on, I'm enjoying the fluid movement of your composition. His fettuccine body and expressive hands lead the viewer 'round and 'round again to his face, and the cigarette smoke, though subtle, is a delightful detail that directs the viewer back again for an encore. It's terrific, through and through! (Your fans beg for more.)

  3. Very smooth. I can almost taste the menthol. It is a wonderful composition. Very fluid and clean. i really like the planes on his cheek and temple and the suggestion of glowing skin

  4. Reminds me of my Grandmother telling me menthol cigarettes were good for you..I like how you show his body and hands as a sacrificial emblem to support his voice...well that's how I saw it anyway!! Great as usual!

  5. Yeah yeah, super great as always. That subtle curl of smoke and his devilish grin just kill me. I really dig those blocks of color that make up his face too. So when's your book coming out?

    1. hmmm... yes, a book has been in the "that-would-be-a-good-idea" stage for some time now...

      hopefully it can land soon.

  6. i didn't know that he smoked up some packs of cigarettes cause he believed it gave his voice the characteristics it has.
