Al Capone was caged in the end --but he always insisted: "I am like any other man. All I do is supply a demand." He aimed to please; if the public wanted whiskey, he gave them whiskey, if the public wanted bloody valentines, he obliged... if the public wanted a crinolined curtsey, he may have had to draw the line, or maybe this was his own personal, private cage unto himself.
