A smile perplexes an incoming frown or scowl ~doesn't phase the caricaturist though... we, who are happily thus employed, simply latch on to any irregularity present in the smile and have at it. In exchange, we return OUR smile to the sitter.

I really like the mouth of the first one :D
ReplyDelete#2 has something so complete and satisfying about if; loose but full of structure and form; simple but with the just right amount of complexity (hair shapes vs torso;) line quality (as usual) thick vs. thin, sharp, speedy, purposeful vs meandering, slow and doubtful. She has that air of confidence about her that, if you look closely, melts into self-doubt (loathing?) at closer inspection. The whole story is here.
ReplyDeleteThe huge smile and flowing hair give the first image a REALLY nice feeling. I especially like the simplicity of the eyes, and the space you've left around them. Beautiful contrast, maestro.
ReplyDeleteThe tension in #2 is really thick. Love the backside exposure. Guess the energy has to pop somewhere.
Fun fun fun. This makes me want to try drawing like this (though I doubt I could). I really like how that smile takes over her whole face. Her nose barely fits behind it.
