Khrushchev's red button hat is really funny ~ and deadly serious. He looks like a child having a temper tantrum. I doubt most people know how close our world was to total destruction. This piece is a nice transition and continuing theme from your post last week. :) I especially like the transparency - seeing bits and pieces of the drama as it unfolded over time. Very captivating!
I agree with everything Mardi said. I really like this piece even though it's of an ugly guy in more ways than one. I especially like the red button hat and the vignettes too. I also like the way the color transitions from blue to red like he's about to bust his top, which adds to the urgency of the whole situation. Great job!
A great caricature has a story behind the face, not just the face..this is and it has..the launch supper comment...made me smile!!
I enjoy how Khrushchev is both the button and the missile. The Rauschenberg like transparencies are both in Khrushchev's head and a time passage. And another amazing and dangerous mouth too.
I like the teeth in the stomach- that which we eat also eats us-
Awesome, love the smaller drawings withing the drawing.
another good one... and I like the little sketches, too!
