"My one regret in life is that I am not someone else."
Woody Allen perfected imperfection throughout his art and life, dovetailing the two into a perfect blend of inadequacy and frailty; ~the ultimate chink in anybody's armor.
Haha! You've captured his essence to a 'T'. The face is so perfectly Woody, and the body posture fully exemplifies his persona. Love the eyebrows! Richard, your composition and palette are lovely; the pencil is exquisite. This one's my new favorite.
By this superb drawing you expressed the point, the essence of his quote. And you have also reached I had to laugh this morning ...thanks. Good start of my day!
BTW, did I tell you I like also nr.1, unfinished drawing. It is more expressive , more movement , but I guess, it is often with unfinished work unlike the work that is done...
Thank you, and I agree. There is a strength to the line work in the first sketch that could have been explored and celebrated in the final. For the final, I was trying a few other new approaches that varied in success. However, I also think that what gets communicated in the first sketch likely needs to remain as is; as refining it might have killed the gesture. ~~so it is with art...
Wow. This is really strong drawing and you caught Woody's character beautifully from the baggy clothes to the super-sized glasses. I think that this is one of your strongest so far ...almost perfect
Love the drawings, the energy in the earlier ones, the final feels like it's waiting to breathe... makes me wonder - again - just how much of the character "Woody Allen" is created, how much was born.
Must agree with everything that has already been said by everyone else..including the strength of the dancing linework in the famous no.1 sketch which to me somehow captured imperfect perfectly.
Love the quote and the illustration!
ReplyDeletegreat caricature.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing and nice colors on the finished piece.
ReplyDeletefantastic illustration and I love how you share the process, thank you

Woody Allen always makes me feel kind of itchy since he's such a twitchy guy. You really show that. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteYes! It's quintessential Woody--in all his imperfectiousness ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice for the prompt, & you capture him... perfectly.
ReplyDeletelove the first sketch too, but love the nose and eyes in the final as well. The use of the line pulls me around Woody and the composition.
