Coffee Mugs
Some folk arrive real early at the coffee shop because they're gonna meet their friends (an hour or so later)... what they want is to claim a specific table or location in the shop and then as their friends stroll in piecemeal all is fine. Except that the person who did the claiming has long since finished their coffee, had to sip all by their lonesome, is getting bed sores from sitting so long ~~and is totally out of sync with the rest of their group ~~who's had more sleep, are surrounded by friends immediately, and are on the upswing from their coffee...

The United States, in urgent competition with other countries to first develop nuclear weapons, appointed the brilliant J. Robert Oppenheimer as the head of their secret weapons lab; by 1945 Robert had become the "father of the atomic bomb" along with the other Manhattan Project scientists.
Conflicted and outspoken, he later fought for international control of nuclear weapons until he was finally black-listed by the government during the McCarthy era.

STRAWBERRY MOON
The June full moon is known as the Strawberry moon. This is so called as it is harvesting time for strawberries... This year we'll also harvest a Partial Strawberry Moon Eclipse, ~~which sounds more like a calorically dense dessert than a unique astronomical event. Regardless, at 3am pst the Earth will cast a shadow on part of the moon --like a slug lazying on a strawberry? ewww

By some accounts, president Ronald Reagan began showing preliminary signs of Alzheimer's in the last few years of his presidency. ~~By the mid-90s he was suffering the full-on effects of the disease, which he endured for nearly 10 years, until his death in 2004. He was 93.

The kernel of genius inside the smash comedy album "My Son the Nut" was none other than Allan Sherman who, with his 'Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah' and other parodies, kept America in stitches for months... His fame was somewhat short lived as, soon after, his formula lost fire and sales dropped dramatically. Still, his influence lives on into the 21st century.
